Neapolitan Mastiff:

This breed of dog is one of the oldest dogs in the world. Generally this breed did not get popularity because of other available breeds and it is an underrated breed. The origin of this dog is from Italy. The body of this dog is very large and the males are of up to 200 pounds. In the ancient times, they have worked as cart-pullers and they were also used in wars. It is a well known fact about Alexander the great that how much he liked to keep a dog. It is this breed which he liked the most. They have distinctive wrinkles in their body. The physical structure of this breed is very akin to Chinese Shar-Pei.

American Mastiff:

American mastiff is moderately a new breed in the world. This breed is just 30 years old. They are big and muscular. The head size is medium and the tail is long. If we look on to the body then it is very thick. They are generally 3 feet tall and the weight is in between 140 to 200 pounds. The patience is the main character of this dog and they become very aggressive when they see any threat to their masters.

Spanish Mastiff:

– The characteristics of Spanish Mastiff are very similar to other mastiff breeds. If we compare the body of this breed with Neapolitan mastiff then it is short. The head is broad and the coat colors comprise wolf gray, white etc. Every coat shade will include either black or fawn or gray markings. The average weight of this dog is in between 110 to 135 pounds and the height up to shoulder can be 26 to 28 inches. A veteran dog instructor is required to give a firm training to this breed.
